2022 Primary Election

Voters for the Republican and Democratic parties will choose their candidates for the November general election in the March 1 primary election. In addition to statewide offices, there are numerous local offices on the ballot.

Check your registration status with the El Paso County Elections Department or the Texas secretary of state’s office. The deadline to register to vote in the March 1 primaries has passed.

Early voting runs from Monday, Feb. 14 through Friday, Feb. 25. Polls will be closed Monday, Feb. 21 for President’s Day. You can vote at any polling place in the county. Hours and locations are here.

Election Day is Tuesday, March 1 and polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

You’ll need one of seven acceptable forms of photo ID, which include a Texas driver’s license, U.S. passport book or card or Texas personal ID card.

You must apply for a mail-in ballot by Feb. 18. Mail-in voting is limited to those who are sick or disabled; age 65 or older on Election Day; are expected to give birth three weeks before or after Election Day; in jail; or out of the county during the election period.

To avoid ID problems on your application or completed ballot, include both your Texas driver’s license number and the last four digits of your Social Security number.
