El Paso Matters is seeking a revenue development director to support our mission of providing in-depth and investigative journalism to enhance civic engagement in a dynamic multi-cultural, binational community.

The revenue development director will help build a relationship-driven membership and sponsorship program to sustain and expand our crucial journalistic mission. The director also will work with the CEO in identifying grant and large gift opportunities. Ideal candidates have successful experience in digital marketing and audience development, as well as a track record of planning campaigns, strategic initiatives and events.

Our revenue development director will be a key member of a vibrant and innovative team, with a passion for the U.S.-Mexico border region. Prior media experience is a plus but not a must. We’re looking for a development director with a zeal for the necessity of a free and independent media to democracy and local communities. Flexibility and collaboration skills for working within a fast-paced startup environment are crucial.

About El Paso Matters

El Paso Matters is a member-supported nonprofit, nonpartisan media organization that uses journalism to expand civic capacity in our region. We inform and engage with people in El Paso, Ciudad Juárez and neighboring communities to create solutions-driven conversations about complex issues shaping our region.

We began publishing in mid-February 2020. Our diverse team focuses on in-depth and investigative journalism that provides accurate, nuanced coverage of the border region. We inform our community about the political, health, education, immigration, economic and cultural issues that most impact their lives. We look to build binational collaborations and partnerships with other media organizations to provide even more impactful coverage of our region.

Despite publishing for only a few months, El Paso Matters was recently named one of four finalists for the Online News Association’s General Excellence in Online Journalism Award for Micro Newsrooms.
