El Paso Matters Republishing Guidelines

Our goal is to create and provide information that informs and engages the El Paso region and others interested in border life and so publish under a Creative Commons — Attribution/No derivatives license. You can republish our articles and other content for  free using the following ground rules. (If you do republish our stories, let us know by emailing us at news@elpasomatters.org.)

Here’s what you need to know (with thanks to the Texas Tribune for providing a model):

Story Republishing Guidelines

1. You must give us credit, preferably in this format: “By Angela Kocherga, El Paso Matters.”

2. If you publish online, you must include the links from the story, and a link to elpasomatters.org.

3. Please don’t edit our stories beyond changes to suit your in-house style.

4. You can publish our photos and graphics with the stories with which they originally appeared. For any other uses, you must seek permission from us by emailing news@elpasomatters.org.

5. If you share the story on social media, please mention @elpasomatters on Twitter and Facebook.

6. Don’t sell the story.

7. Don’t sell ads against the story. Feel free, however, to publish it on a page surrounded by ads you’ve already sold.

NOTE:

From time to time, El Paso Matters publishes content written with other newsrooms as part of exclusive partnerships. Stories written with third-party partners are not available for republishing, unlike regular El Paso Matters stories. For questions, email bmoore@elpasomatters.org.

Multimedia Republishing Guidelines

We encourage you to republish our best online video content, photographs, images and multimedia packages – all we ask is that you follow these multimedia republishing guidelines.

1. You must give us credit, preferably in this format: “By Angela Kocherga, El Paso Matters.” For on-air use, please introduce video packages as “(Reporter) with our reporting partner, El Paso Matters…”

2. If you publish online, you must include the links from the story, and a link to elpasomatters.org.

3. For multimedia, you can’t change video or audio packages in any way (included shortening) without receiving clear approval from El Paso Matters editors. If you have questions, email bmoore@elpasomatters.org.

4. Don’t sell the story.

5. Don’t sell ads against the story. Feel free, however, to publish it on a page surrounded by ads you’ve already sold.

6. If we send you a request to change or remove El Paso Matters content from your site or on-air, you must agree to do so immediately.

For questions regarding El Paso Matters’ epublishing guidelines, please contact Robert Moore, bmoore@elpasomatters.org.
